Ten families gathered together on November 10, 1892 in Silverton to establish Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. O. R. Sletten was called to be the first pastor. Services were held in temporary quarters for the first six years. The church was constructed in 1898 at the present location. The original building was dismantled in 1915, and the center portion of the new building was constructed. A new pipe organ was supplied through a grant from the Cargegie Foundation.
